The Caterpillar Effect

The Caterpillar Effect was a project in which 18th century undergarments were converting into a modern and more functional garments. The corset has a beautiful embroidered lace placed on top of a double layered re-used cotton sheet to create a beautiful art piece while being sustainable and functional with a zipper inserted on the side of the corset for easy in and out access. The Panniers (which would have been used under the petticoat) to create the illusion of large hips, has been converted into a lovely decorative storage compartment, with pockets to but your phone on one side and cards on the other as well as free space inside the panniers to fill however desired. The colour palette and video inspiration came from Sofia Coppola's 2006 movie "Marie Antoinette".
