Cruella 2020:
The Horace Design

Excited to share this look I created for an @rmituniversity project, in celebration of the new @disneyaunz film, Cruella.

I saw Cruella as someone deprived of wealth and fortune, who had to resort to her resourcefulness. The design incorporates upcycling and recycling techniques, using variety material sourced from ‘little old ladies down the street’, leftover fabric and a jacket in poor condition, which all would have otherwise been discarded. The garment and materials used were transformed and reborn into a distinctive and unique design which avoided the unnecessary wastage by using new materials and reducing our carbon footprint. I used my inspiration of graffiti to send a message of equality and acceptance of all members of the community, all Colours, Sexualities, Ages and Mindsets. The design is based off traditional male clothing, making them gender neutral and as Cruella is surrounded by men, more readily available to her. The design was named after its original owner, Horace.
